The ultimate kayaking test
63 days, 2870 km, from the Swedish to the Russian border, Norwegian former junior world champion Daniel Salbu paddled in his kayak solo along the entire coastline of Norway to fundraise for the Norwegian Sea Rescue Society Redningsselskapet. Daniel used the SafeTrx Active watch to track his trip and be able to call for help with SafeTrx Active's unique safety system, even in the most remote areas of Arctic Norway.

SafeTrx Active works in all countries with the new LTE-M network. All telecom providers are rolling out the network more and more. The network is fully operational in Europe in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria & Spain.

Emergency Alerts are intended for when you’re in real trouble.
The alert will be sent directly to the affiliated rescue organisation and any designated contacts who will also receive your exact location and other important information like the gear you’re using.

SUBSCRIPTION PLANS
As the SafeTrx Active watch is online all the time - independent from a mobile phone - a data & service subscription plan is required. This is similar to your mobile phone and the data contracts that you would be familiar with.
The subscription plans can vary per country.
The monthly subscription renews automatically every month and may be cancelled at any time.

WHERE DOES SAFETRX ACTIVE WORk?
SafeTrx Active works in every country that has a cellular network that supports LTE-M, the low power, long range radio network that the SafeTrx Active watch uses.
In all these countries, your watch will work with the SafeTrx Services for tracking, sharing, assistance requests and emergency alerts sending them to your emergency contacts.
In areas where we have a rescue organisation partner, SafeTrx Active is fully integrated and directly connected to these professional rescue organizations.

Once you start an activity on the watch, it receives the current wind, wave and weather information for your current location and displays it on the watch for you.
SAFETRX SEARCHLIGHT
The unique SafeTrx Searchlight feature is included on the sharing screens that are sent to emergency contacts in order to help them find you in the case of an emergency alert or assistance request.
By turning on the Searchlight feature, contacts will be provided with directions, based on the relative positions of the SafeTrx Active watch and their phone.
The information provided includes distance, direction and bearing between the two users.
By orientating the phone, the holder can use the direction information to navigate with their smartphone directly to the wearer of the watch.

About SafeTx Active
Keep an eye out for SafeTrx news and check back regularly to see when your country is available. You can register your interest here and we'll let you know when it's available to purchase in your country.Once you have purchased your device and registered an account, you will be able to use your watch anywhere that supports the technology.
Note that the mSafety cannot receive GPS location data while underwater but we have seen the mSafety connect to cellular networks while underwater. If you have started an alert or assistance request while at sea, it is still recommended to try and keep your arm out of the water to maximise the chances of getting a good signal and good GPS location.
The software on the watch expects this to happen. By constantly tracking in real time, we improve the opportunity for the watch to receive location data and transmit it when you arm is above the water.
Additionally, the watch uses a technology called LTE-M, which is different to the standard LTE technology used by phones and other connected watches. This technology is specially designed to support devices that need a long battery life or are used in locations that are difficult to reach with normal LTE technology since it has a longer range and greater penetration.
You may carry out your initial account setup on your phone, but this can just as easily be done on any PC or laptop. You can also look at your previous activities on a phone or desktop.
There is no requirement though to pair your watch with your phone and you can leave your phone on shore or even at home when you go out with your mSafety. You don't even need to sync or upload activities to your phone, they'll be picked up automatically from the SafeTrx Cloud.
Many of the features on a standard smart watch would actually be detrimental to the primary function of SafeTrx Active. SafeTrx Active is focused primarily on safety and support for the rescue services in emergency situation, meaning that we prioritise battery length and location services over other typical smart watch functions.
When in activity tracking, assistance or alerting mode, the device will be carrying out per second tracking with network communications every minute, which will significantly reduce the battery life. It will typically last approximately 7 hours in one of the tracking modes.
About Subscriptions
The mSafety device is always connected to the LTE-M cellular network, which is why it is able to send your live data and emergency alerts at any time. This is similar to your mobile phone and the data contracts that you would be familiar with.
Without this connection, which is covered by all subscription plans, the mSafety will not be able to perform any of its functions.
While the SafeTrx platform costs are consistent across countries, the rescue organisation contribution and network fees can vary by country resulting in different subscription costs.
